I didn’t know that herons a) hunted fish this big, and b) they had fish this big in Beacon Hill Park. |

I like taking random walks around Victoria.
I also like taking photos of anything random that catches my eye.
This is an ongoing look at my Victoria roaming.

It was too cloudy to see the Venus-Moon-Jupiter conjunction last night (damn you, nature!), but it was juuust un-cloudy enough to see Venus and the Moon close together tonight. In other news, look who remembered he had a photoblog. |

Went roaming in the woods today. Caught the bus to Butchart Gardens, then walked to the Tod Inlet Trail. The trail can be as short as a couple kilometres, with lots of offshoots along the way (or just connecting to other trails in the area). |

After about five hours of walking in the snow and taking tons of photos, this completely non-snow one ended up being my favourite from the day. This is one of those “I can’t believe I took that!” shots. Taken by the parking lot at the Inner Harbour. |

After three hours of freezing while taking photos of the lunar eclipse this morning, it ended up being this random one that’s my favourite. I noticed a plane well to the right of the moon’s portion of the sky. I realized that its flight path would likely take it directly under the moon, so I quickly changed settings to catch its streak. This was actually a test shot, getting ready for the chance to underline the eclipsed moon…but I like this one better than the actual “goal” shot I took. Know what makes a roam great? Random hawks! This guy was hanging out near the cricket field/pitch/diamond/rink at Windsor Park in Oak Bay. |

We had some pretty intense wind yesterday, so I went roaming. I watched the waves for a while at Cadboro Bay, and this shot is my favourite. It looks boring, and the waves don’t look any different than normal. Except…you see that wave that’s just about to break? That’s a wall of water so high it’s actually hiding a ~30-foot sailboat behind it. Crazy. |

Taken along the West Bay Walkway back from Esquimalt. I think this’d be a cool spot to shoot some star trails from at some point. |

Last photo of those flower/plant things. I like how the colours went with the sunset in this one. Taken at Saxe Point in Esquimalt. |
